This year’s awardee is:
- New Perspectives in Diagnosis and Management of Optic Neuropathy in Fibrous Dysplasia: Utility of Combined Optical Coherence Tomography and Computed Tomography, Kristen S Pan, Edmond J FitzGibbon, Susan Vitale, Janice S Lee, Michael T Collins, Alison M Boyce. Kristen Pan is a Pre-Doctoral IRTA Fellow with the National Institutes of Health.
Kristen Pan will receive $1,500 to support her participation in the 4th Meeting of the International FD/MAS Consortium. She will also have the opportunity to present her poster and give an oral presentation to renowned FD/MAS researchers about her research. “Attending the conference will be a great opportunity for me to meet other researchers in the field and to forge new collaborations in the future. In addition, the meeting’s program is spectacular and will cover several topics that I am interested in. It will be a great learning opportunity,” said Kristen. “I wouldn’t have been able to attend the conference without the financial support from the award.”
One of the FDF’s mission is to foster the growth of young investigators by supporting their research and professional development linking them to the Foundation and other pertinent researchers. “I will be leaving the NIH this summer to go back to medical school, and being able to attend and present at the 4th meeting is the perfect way to end my NIH fellowship. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to showcase two years of hard work.”
Thanks to the FDF Scientific Advisory Council for leading the scoring process to identify a unique project that is innovative and will further necessary research on combined tomography practices. We look forward to hearing and learning more about FD/MAS research at the upcoming 4th Meeting of the International FD/MAS Consortium meeting in Florence, Italy, organized by Dr. Maria Luisa Brandi. The phenomenal agenda includes presentations from many top FD/MAS basic, pre-clinical and clinical researchers worldwide. Registration for this meeting is free. Registration forms can be found here.
