During these extraordinary times, grappling with COVID-19, the whole team at FDF has been thinking of the patients, parents, and advocates who we hold dear. While a diagnosis of FD or MAS does NOT automatically make any of us at higher risk, it's possible that a secondary condition such as heart or lung disease may. FD/MAS often comes with a constellation of symptoms, and any respiratory complications increase our risk factors for developing a more severe case of this virus. We will all be affected in one way or another, through changes at work, in our childcare plans, at our grocery stores, in our schools, and crucially, for many in the FD/MAS community, through rescheduled or cancelled medical visits. As communities near and far take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we feel both unsettled by the disruption and heartened by the way people are coming together to protect those among us who are most vulnerable. Be safe, be well, and watch the CDC for continuing updates.
